TCS – Test Control System

BACK

The Test Control System (TCS) helps produce quality software by assisting in the development of a controlled and structured test environment.  The Test Control System has been designed to aid test managers in developing and orchestrating testing activities for large and often rather complex applications.

TCS can be most helpful in supporting system testing applications with the following characteristics:

Multiple Processing Cycles (daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, etc.)

Multiple Input and Output Variations

Batch and On-line Variations

Multi-Event Keys

Triggers and Multiple Transaction Linkages

Whenever functional validation involves staging tests over time, it is useful to have a database oriented tool assist in the management of this critical information.  TCS is just such a tool.

TCS supports effective linkage to source documentation:

  Function

  Requirements

  Assigned Personnel

  Assigned System

  Designated Processing Period

TCS brings structure to assist in providing consistency in test definition and script development.  TCS assists in the orchestration of the tests by filtering specific actions essential to completing each segment of input - whether interface, on-line or batch, at the time the information is needed.  TCS links to automated driver tools and tracks their script execution providing a common management reporting facility.

Test conditions specify the permutations to be tested.

TCS facilitates tracking of tests that are conducted by:

  Application Function

  System

  Requirement Documentation

  Person Assigned the Test

  Test ID

  Test Cycles

Key Benefits Summary:

Orchestrates development and maintenance of key Data Relationships

Provides Explicit Step by Step direction to the test data construction process.

Provides inherent linkage to automated test drivers

Orchestrates and enhances effective management of test execution.

Provides timely and meaningful status reports.

Supports cost effective changes to test data required to support modifications.
