Regression Testing
Testmasters structured testing approach builds testing equity. Test cases can be re-executed to verify defect corrections and also verify that changes have not negatively affected unchanged functions. Regression testing is also available to verify software maintenance and enhancements.
When re-testing defect corrections, previously failed test cases will be re-executed to ensure that the corrected code is accurate. Sufficient re-testing of surrounding functions will be performed to ensure that additional errors have not been introduced.
Testing of maintenance changes or enhancements requires addition of test cases to cover the new/changed functionality. New test cases are run along with the old test cases to verify that new functions perform correctly and that unchanged functions have not been impacted.
The primary considerations during Regression Testing are:
Changed/corrected code is performing
accurately
Unchanged code continues to perform accurately
By building a structured, repeatable test base Testmasters’ consultants can perform iterative testing in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
